Overview

Overview of Cisco Catalyst 9130AXE Wireless Access Point (C9130AXE-B) | New

The Cisco Catalyst 9130AXE Wireless Access Point (C9130AXE-B) is a high-end, external-antenna Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) access point designed for mission-critical, high-density business settings including campuses, hospitals, big offices and venues. With 8x8 MU-MIMO in the 5 GHz band and 4x4 MIMO in the 2.4 GHz band, it provides up to 5.38 Gbps of aggregate wireless throughput, allowing for more concurrent clients and better per-user performance. While support for multigigabit 2.5G Ethernet uplinks avoids backhaul bottlenecks, an integrated tri-radio design with OFDMA, BSS Coloring and Target Wake Time maximizes spectrum efficiency and battery life for contemporary devices. WPA3, 802.1X and Cisco's sophisticated RF and policy controls are just a few of the enterprise-grade security features that provide maximum flexibility for demanding RF environments including stadiums, warehouses and open atriums. The 9130AXE model is designed to couple with external antennas.

Key Features of Cisco Catalyst 9130AXE Wireless Access Point

Wi‑Fi 6 (802.11ax) Tri‑Radio Design offers 8x8 uplink/downlink MU‑MIMO and OFDMA in 5 GHz plus 4x4 MIMO in 2.4 GHz, with features such as BSS Coloring, TWT and 20/40/80/160 MHz channels to deliver multi‑gigabit wireless and high client density.

Up to 5.38 Gbps Aggregate Data Rate supports PHY rates up to about 5.38 Gbps (dual 4x4 80+80 MHz in 5 GHz plus 4x4 20 MHz in 2.4 GHz), enabling high‑bandwidth applications like UHD video, AR/VR and large file transfers.

External Antenna Flexibility (AXE Model) with the 9130AXE uses external antennas and is certified for antenna gains up to 13 dBi on 2.4 and 5 GHz, allowing tailored coverage patterns for warehouses, corridors, outdoor canopies and other specialized deployments.

Multigigabit Ethernet Uplink includes a 2.5G/1G/100M multigigabit Ethernet port (802.3bz), ensuring the wired uplink keeps pace with high Wi‑Fi 6 throughput over existing Cat5e/6 cabling.

Robust Enterprise Security & Policy supports WPA3, WPA2‑Enterprise, 802.1X, advanced AES encryption, plus Cisco security and RF tools to mitigate rogue APs, detect RF threats and enforce segmentation at the edge.

High-Performance Hardware Platform features 2 GB DRAM and 1 GB flash, along with a dedicated scanning/IoT radio (depending on mode) to enable advanced analytics, spectrum intelligence and IoT use cases without impacting client performance.

Benefits of Cisco Catalyst 9130AXE Wireless Access Point

🗹 Delivers High-Capacity, High-Speed Wi‑Fi that Wi‑Fi 6 technologies like 8x8 MU‑MIMO and OFDMA enable more users to connect simultaneously with lower latency, supporting dense classrooms, offices and public spaces without degrading user experience.

🗹 Optimized Coverage in Difficult RF Environments that external‑antenna flexibility lets you tune coverage and gain where you need it most, improving reliability in long corridors, high‑ceiling spaces and RF‑challenging layouts.

🗹 Protects Existing Cabling Investments that 2.5G multigigabit uplink uses current Cat5e/6 cabling to unlock higher backhaul speeds, avoiding costly re‑cabling while still enabling Wi‑Fi 6 performance.

🗹 Strengthens Security and Compliance that WPA3, 802.1X, and Cisco’s RF security capabilities help safeguard sensitive data and meet organizational security requirements across regulated industries.

🗹 Future-Proofs the Wireless Edge that a powerful hardware platform, advanced radio features and integration with Cisco’s Catalyst ecosystem provide a long lifecycle and support for evolving client, IoT and application demands.
