Starrett is a name you can trust ! LS Starrett has been in business since 1880 Athol Massachusetts. this is a very solid digital caliper and will work well for me as a hobbyist. with that said if you are a professional machinist and need 100% accuracy this is not your caliper. if you do a lot of cnc milling you definitely need to go to LS Starret website and buy the higher end calipers that are made here in America ie: Athol Massachusetts.
The calipers listed here are the low end calipers that are made in China. you shouldn't be surprised by this because a lot of tool companies make lower end tools over seas for cost savings cheaper and this starrett caliper is no different and is made in China. just know this before buying so you can make a educated decision.
