You will need bandwidth to handle your call volume. In general, the higher your call volume, the more bandwidth you will require. So, you will need a broadband modem that is suited to provide you the bandwidth required to handle call volumes.



Ethernet Router

Depending on your budget, you will need a router that can handle a sufficient amount of concurrent connection volume. If you are setting up for a personal home office, you can opt for a router within your budget. However, it is recommended that you get a decent router with VoIP function and QoS to enable you to use your VoIP system from a satellite office.



PBX Server/Switch

This again depends on your budget as well as the call and connection volume that you will require. Though, if you are setting up for just your home office, you can even a computer to act as your PBX server as long as you have the correct PBX server software installed.



PBX Server Software

PBX server software gets installed into your PBX server. This software is what controls the PBX server and allows you to setup and configure your phone system to how you want it set up. There are both free and paid PBX softwares available allowing you to add features that you feel would best supplement your overall VoIP System.



VoIP Phones

There are range of VoIP Phones available in all sizes, features, and color from various brands. When selecting phones for your system, be sure to note that the phone(s) you’re buying are open VoIP and/or SIP phones. These phones allow you to connect to any PBX system rather than be limited to a specific one.



VoIP Provider

VoIP Provider You will need a VoIP service to make calls and receive calls outside of your office. This service is similar to your phone service provide. Without this service, you will only be able to communicate with other phone extensions within your office that are connected to the PBX server. This service is usually a monthly paid service with the cost depending on your volume of inbound and outbound calls.
