Best Headphones for People With Glasses

November 16, 2018 | Author: Mahmood Khan

Toothpaste and Orange Juice Don't Mix well, and neither do Glasses and headphones

Those who wear glasses regularly know the pain of trying to wear headphones or headsets for extended period of time. The aftermath is usually earaches or headaches in some cases. This is the result of the clamping force of the headphones and thickness of the ear padding mixing with the design of the glasses.

Headphones are designed to have strong clamping force so that they can stay on without the risk of falling off. While this design is a great idea, it doesn’t go well with glasses as it adds additional pressure on the ear cartilage and temporal bones. Not to mention the fact that it’s pressing your ear against the clamp of the glasses as well.

Some effective ways to reduce the pressure on the ears is to have thicker ear padding on the headphones. Thick ear padding reduces the pressure on your ears by buffering the force and spreading it around the area. Similarly, earpads larger in size that cover a greater area also help since they sit around the ear and not directly on it. Thus, reducing the clamping of force directly on your ear.

Although there are not many alternatives to eliminate the discomfort of wearing headphones over the glasses, there are headphones with good enough designs to help ease the comfort. For those on the go: Any Over-The-Ear headphones or headset will suffice for the most part.
